The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) held its annual review meeting with licensed investment banks and securities dealers to assess progress made over the past year and strengthen collaboration in advancing Ethiopia’s capital market. Representatives of the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) also participated in the meeting.
The meeting featured presentations on key developments in licensing, supervision, and securities registration, followed by discussions on achievements, challenges, and priorities for further strengthening the capital market ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, ECMA Director General Hana Tehelku underscored the importance of regular engagement with market participants to identify challenges, evaluate progress, and collectively develop solutions that support the growth and integrity of the capital market.
She emphasized that sustained collaboration between the regulator and market participants is essential for building a vibrant, transparent, and resilient capital market that contributes to Ethiopia’s economic development.
The Director General further noted that ECMA will continue to convene such engagements as part of its ongoing efforts to foster dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and support the sustainable development of Ethiopia’s capital market.
The annual review meetings will continue tomorrow with licensed securities advisors, providing an additional platform for discussion and collaboration on the development of the country’s capital market ecosystem.
