Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) Licenses BDO Consulting PLC

The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has granted a Capital Market Service Provider (CMSP) license to BDO Consulting PLC under the Securities Investment Advisor (Corporate) category.

Alongside the corporate license, ECMA approved three (3) Appointed Representatives and the appointment of five (5) board directors within the firm.

Effective February 12, 2026, the license brings the total number of licensed CMSPs in Ethiopia to 16, including 9 Securities Investment Advisors.

During the official ceremony, ECMA Director General Hana Tehelku highlighted the vital role of securities investment advisors in strengthening market development and safeguarding investor interests through informed decision-making.

She also called on all licensed providers to uphold transparency, regulatory compliance, and investor protection as core priorities.

(GoE) Home-Grown Economic Reform Program and the 10-Year Development Plan
(2021- 2031). In line with this commitment, the Capital Markets Proclamation (No.
1248/2021) was adopted by the House of Peoples’ Representatives in June 2021, which
included the establishment of the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA).
