Ethiopia’s growing capital market took the spotlight at AFSIC 2025 in London during the Ethiopian Country Summit organized by FSD Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) was proudly represented by our Director General, Ms. Hana Theleku, who shared the exciting progress Ethiopia has made in building a modern, inclusive, and transparent Capital Market.

She emphasized the importance of partnership, innovation, and trust in shaping a market that supports the country’s sustainable growth.

During the session, discussions centered on the crucial role of development finance institutions (DFIs) in driving participation, strategies to prepare companies for IPO readiness, and ways to bring SMEs into the capital market space. Participants also reflected on how collaboration among stakeholders can strengthen market stability and build investor confidence.

The session, together with a related event organized by the FCDO, showcased the shared commitment of ECMA, FSD Ethiopia, and other partners to advance Ethiopia’s capital market journey from developing strong legal frameworks to encouraging active market participation.
