We were honored to welcome the Ambassadors and Deputy Ambassadors of Israel to Ethiopian and the African Union to the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) for a high-level discussion with our senior management team to explore areas of collaboration in the development of Ethiopia’s capital market and identify opportunities for mutual support and knowledge sharing.
The visit included a presentation on the current state of Ethiopia’s capital market and the progress ECMA has made in laying a strong regulatory foundation. We also shared key insights from our February 2024 visit to Israel, where the Israeli Securities Authority and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange generously shared best practices and experiences from their jurisdictions.
The Israeli Ambassador noted that the meeting provided valuable insights they can now pass along to Israeli investors already interested in investing in Ethiopia due to the country’s growing digital economy and the opening of its financial sector. Both sides expressed optimism that a partnership between Ethiopia and Israel by combining resources could lead to impactful collaboration in market development.
ECMA also explored areas for cooperation, particularly in technology and human capital development related to market investigation and enforcement.
